Karolinska Institutet

Novum

Nov2k is a yearly symposium that is organized and run by graduate students at NOVUM, Huddinge. This year's event will be the 10th and hopefully again a success. The aim of Nov2k is to foster connections between scientists from different fields, and lead to new initiatives and future collaborations. Everyone from PhDs to PIs are invited.

Participation in the symposium itself is free, but advance registration entitles you to:

  • coffee and cakes at coffee breaks
  • lunch (sandwiches, drinks, fruits)
  • the possibility to present a poster, this year with even better poster prizes
  • the possibility to reserve a place for the evening activities (champagne reception, three course dinner and dancing until late!)

Bigger poster prizes!

Best 3 posters receive 4000kr (likely as a voucher from our sponsors) for the lab, and something personal. Only for those participating both days.

New format this year!

Two days with overnight stay at Bommersvik. You can choose to only participate the first day, or both days + party/dinner + overnight stay.

  • Aubrey de Grey (Cambridge) "Prospects for defeating aging all together"
  • Robert Harris (KI) "Quality control of research education - from learning outcomes to PhD"

  • Jussi Taipale (KI), "Transcriptional control of cell growth"
  • Hanna Jansson (UBE) "Science put to use"
Several more key speakers will be announced

Who is involved?

Students, post-docs and group leaders who wish to present the results of their ongoing work in an amiable and relaxed environment. Nov2k is also an excellent chance for researchers to come in contact with the latest in life-science technologies presented by companies attending the symposium.

What makes Nov2k special?

Last year more than 200 registered attendants visited the symposium, making Nov2k one of the largest student organized events in and around Novum Research Park. The symposium ends with a champagne reception, dinner and a big party where attending guests can meet under less formal circumstances.
